1950 - Metalúrgica Schioppa is born, pioneer and already believing in the future.
Industrialization had just started in the country when Schioppa that, from padlocks and wheels for equipment, started manufacturing spare parts for the imported equipment and realizing the market potential for products for material handling in Brazil, it started the verticalized manufacturing that it uses so far.

It was in May 1950 when Mr. Mario Schioppa founded the Company. A small metallurgical plant directed to the manufacturing of padlocks and wheels for equipment, American type (10x200, 12x300 and 15x300). It was the beginning of the industrialization in Brazil. The automotive industry was not installed yet and the majority of the industrialized products was imported but, even though, it was seen the need of products directed to material handling. The famous American wheels already had a replacement market and Schioppa emerged as an industry that was willing to develop and work on this market. Apart from the pioneering, this gap they found was always supported by the fact that we started verticalized, that is, manufacturing from the solid rubber rims (as there was no industrial tires and inner tubes) up to the cast and stamped material. With imported machinery and tools hard executed, Schioppa went on and growing.

In the 60’s and 70’s, the demand for casters for all applications enlarged significantly the product lines manufactured by Schioppa, directed to the most diversified equipment. With the need of nationalization, the industries, eager for products, always requested a national similar product, which was promptly executed within the general work conditions as well as the conditions of national raw materials. This way, the wheel and caster line has always been enlarged and, many times, with several products for the same application.

In the 80’s, the second generation of Schioppa family administered the company. It was necessary several years perfecting the product and the manufacturing, because the country was aging in the industrialization and already supplied the most modern generation equipment, with automated machines. We were going towards the fourth enlargement of the company, which already had a traditional market that knows the quality of Schioppa products. In 1987, a radical change was started in the company with the installation of MARORÉâ, a plant of rubber items, totally independent and with a separated life, with the possibility of effectively acting in other markets.

At the beginning of the 90’s, we detected the need of directing the product concept considering three elements - Quality, Low Cost and Delivery Time.
It was not a simple task, as we had already manufactured more than 12,000 items in line, much less because our purchases exceeded 2,000 types of products, from the raw materials up to maintenance items. It was necessary to computerize our administration to serve our clients as foreseen by the goal that we intend to reach. And we reached it. Today, with three industries, we continue with the verticalized manufacturing principle, manufacturing our own polyurethane, Poliuronâ, rubber rims, special covering, caster forks and all the stamped sector, totaling, this way 7200 m2 of built area and an additional area of 40,000 m2 with a forecast, for the 1st phase, of building 18,000 m2 in the city of Extrema, South of Minas Gerais, where we already have MARORÉ®. The innovation starts when we offer more modern, durable and with low cost products, providing the best choice within the work and market conditions.

21st Century.
A company ahead of its time.

Schioppa entered in 2001 to go ahead once more in terms of innovation and quality. Series Futura starts to be manufactured. Injected casters, covered with thermoplastic gum and with a compact roller bearing, giving them the unique hygiene conditions, due to the ability of sterilization by high temperatures, smooth and quiet sliding. It is also a highlight its beauty as they are manufactured with a modern design, matching well defined finishing of the forks and hubcaps with the same colors and materials. In the same year, it is tested the public recognition of Schioppa wheels and casters, being awarded the ISO9001 quality certificate, provided by BVQI and accredited by INMETRO and other international agencies, such as Raad voor Accreditatie and UKAS Quality Management, etc. With this, Schioppa also gains international market participation, acting strongly in the European and North American markets and making it an important supplier of wheels and casters for the most varied applications, with different capacities and objectives. And this is only the beginning of a new century, where Schioppa will always bring a little part of the future to the present of its clients.
